Specialized in rapid metal analysis

Metal Spark is a specialized metallurgical laboratory in Diest, ISO/IEC 17025 accredited.

Metal Spark is an independent metallurgical laboratory founded in Diest in 2021 by Laurens Van Ginderdeuren.

After years of experience as an application and sales engineer for Spark-OES instruments, our expertise lies strongly in Spark-OES, chemical analysis of metals, and the practical application of this analytical technique in industry.

Today, we combine that expertise with mobile OES, XRF-PMI, hardness testing, and a network of specialized partner laboratories.

Not just measuring. Also thinking along with you.

A customer does not always know which analysis is required, and they don't have to.

Our approach therefore does not begin with: "Which instrument do you want to use?" but with: "What do you want to find out?"

From there, we determine which analysis or combination of tests is most suitable.

ISO/IEC 17025 Accredited

Metal Spark is accredited by BELAC under certificate 705-TEST.

The current BELAC certificate states a validity period from March 1, 2026, to October 12, 2030.

Our accreditation covers specific activities, matrices, elements, and methods as defined in the official BELAC scope.

Our Analytical Capabilities

Spark-OES
Our high-end stationary Spectrolab S is used for laboratory analyses, with or without accreditation. This instrument is validated and verified on a weekly basis using an extensive range of reference materials.

Mobile Spark-OES
Our mobile Spectroport is used for on-site analyses and PMI.

XRF-PMI
For fast, non-destructive material identification, we utilize mobile XRF technology.

Hardness
With our TIME 5100 Type D from INNOVATEST, we can carry out portable Leeb hardness measurements.

Sample Preparation

A good chemical analysis starts with a suitable measurement surface.

We have equipment for: grinding, surface preparation, turning, sample machining, and mobile surface preparation.

We also have special adapters for non-standard geometries. For example, wires and small samples can be measured using special adapters.

Partners

Not every metallurgical test needs to be performed by Metal Spark itself.

For specialized mechanical, metallographic, corrosion, and NDT (NDO) testing, we collaborate with specialized partner laboratories.

Our goal is not to do everything ourselves. Our goal is to guide you to the right answer as efficiently as possible.
